We do not micromanage our coaches. You bring your own skills to the table, and every client is different.
But parents have specific expectations when they hire us. They’ve read our website and spoken to someone on our team. So we do need you to be on the same page. And to follow our basic mission.
HomeworkCoach’s mission is two-fold:
First, get the child back on track with schoolwork in a hands-on way.
Second, work on building the student’s executive function skills.
So with that in mind, we offer a First Lesson Plan.
Other items to take with you (only the Lesson Record Sheet is mandatory)
- Executive Function Assessment — if the parent completes one
- Lesson Record Sheet
- Daily Planner (which the student can fill out each day as they begin their homework)
- Learning Styles Questionnaire (not really recommended, it may take more time than it’s worth but perhaps leave it with the student)
- Parent Expectations
Always put the client’s contact information in your phone so that you can text ahead if you’ve hit traffic or are running late. If the first lesson has been scheduled a week or more ahead of your last conversation with the parents, be sure to text or call to confirm the lesson before you leave. Good luck!
